About

Nicholas Thompson is an R&D Engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). His work at LANL involves designed and operating critical experiments at the National Criticality Experiments Research Center at NNSS. He finished his Ph.D. at Nick1-768x1024_smallerRensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2017; his thesis focused on measuring nuclear data. He was also an SRO at the Walthousen Reactor Critical Facility. Before becoming a staff member, he did a Postdoc at LANL, split between LANL in New Mexico and the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN) in Paris, France.

In his spare time, he is an advocate for clean energy and he dabbles in analysis of energy systems.
